special exhibits
This is Deb's quilt.
It's part of a Round Robin Special Exhibit in the
Thimble Pleasures Quild Guild Show
March 24 and 25
A Round Robin is a project started by one artist and is then passed to others in a group.
Each member adds an element. Deb made the center block and other members added the outside borders.
The guild show will display several Round Robin works along with traditional and art quilts.

Yesterday was leap day.
Because it's sort of like an extra day I took it off and spent it with a friend.
It was good.
We did errands and puttered.
Ate leftovers for lunch.
Had tea
and watched the snow start to fall.
Today is back to the business of quilting.
This is Gina's pretty quilt.
I've enjoyed this quilt.
Today I'll add the colored threads, tie off loose threads, de-lint and it should be finished!

with good intentions
This is my sketchbook for the sketchbook project . . .
*true confessions*
. . . it didn't make the deadline . . .
. . . midway through working on it
I realized I had made the cover too large to meet the requirements . . .
. . . my plan was to recover it once the pages were finished . . .
. . . I hadn't realized how fat the book was getting. . .
. . . pages would have to be removed for it to qualify. . .
. . . I wasn't going to like taking pages out . . .
. . . so I didn't . . .
. . . It will stay as is . . .
I'm keeping it.
. . .
And yes, I've been very busy with quilt work
. . .
Thanks for stopping by.

holiday archives
After having a computer malfunction and loosing loads of pictures... I vowed to be better organized
in the picture housekeeping department.
in the picture housekeeping department.
Well, okay, so it's only 6 months later and I'm just getting started
(again).
(again).
But isn't it hard to organize photos? you tend to want to look at all of them. . . time passes, nothing is sorted and you are right back where you started.
-anyway, in doing just that-
I found some photos of great quilts. . . .
This is Deb's quilt.
She made it for her son,
I quilted it,
she gifted at
Christmastime.
It's all hexagons and she used only one print fabric.
You can see the main fabric in the mini border.
The cubes are batik fabrics.
Her color choices are perfect.
It's so cool how the cubes are so dimensional looking.
Deb wanted circles in the center and lines in the border, so that is what we designed.
I'm not exactly sure how many hexagons are in this quilt,
but I do know, no two are alike, that's pretty amazing
-and a lot of work!-
Deb's son, who she gifted this quilt to, is an artist.
He is showing his art in Boston for the month of February, 2012.
He goes by the street artist's name Nanook and you can find info on the gallery show by clicking
here.

the forest floor
This is one of the fun projects on my work table.
It's a hand painted mini art quilt.
It's still in the beginning stages and nothing is finished about it, not even the brown background.
I know I want brown, but not that one.
The Guild I belong to has it's quilt show in March. (check here) We host a little silent auction of member's work. This piece will be in the auction.
I've been looking at some of my photos and drawing out leaf and flower shapes into my sketch pad. Then I transfer the shape over to cloth using my chalk pencil. The cloth is doubled and stuck together with Misty Fuse. The elements are cut out after painting and will remain raw edged.
Dimension and quilting will be added at the end.

Happy New Year's Day
Today seemed like a good day to putter around and get some things done around here,
so we headed out on foot and enjoyed the day.
The colors of today were brown, orange and green when normally they would be closer to snow white, sky blue and grey.
I liked this road sign combo . . .
It'll be back to the routine around here tomorrow.
Happy New Year!
